This week in energy efficiency news…

Acta signed a cooperation agreement with ReliOn, one of the largest fuel cell manufacturers in the world specializing in back-up power systems for telecom, government and transportation applications. The agreement gives Acta a broader commercial offering and a second supplier of key fuel cell components. In addition, Acta Power announced a new back-up power system incorporating ReliOn’s fuel cell system, which has been designed with a 23-inch rack, the standard unit size for the US market.

EnerNOC has acquired Activation Energy, a provider of demand response software and services in Ireland. This acquisition gives EnerNOC an immediate presence in the Irish capacity market and further strengthens EnerNOC’s ability to deliver its full suite of energy intelligence software applications throughout Europe. The relative isolation and limited interconnections of the Irish grid, together with increasing amounts of renewable energy, create additional growth opportunities for demand response, including balancing services.
