Filling up agenda spots at Microgrid 2018 certainly won’t be hard. But narrowing down the number of quality speaking proposals for the event just might be.
Enthusiasm is high for Microgrid 2018 — to be held May 7-9 in Chicago. In fact, the event received three times the number of proposals needed to fill its schedule as the call-for-speakers deadline passed in late January.
Microgid 2017 in Boston was sold out, and conference organizers expect the same for this year’s event in The Windy City.

The theme of this year’s three-day conference, “Markets and Models for the Greater Good,” will cover topics such as microgrid opportunities across the globe, industry evolution — and of course, business, financial, operational, regulatory, policy and technical models for microgrids.

Some of these topics will be covered in presentations and panel discussions, while others will be explored through workshops, forums, tours of active microgrids and more.
Elisa Wood, Microgrid Knowledge editor-in-chief, interviews Doug Staker, vice president, global business development, Demand Energy Networks, at the sold-out Microgrid 2017. Staker explores how solar plus storage is becoming cost-competitive in some markets — a popular topic on tap at Microgrid 2018, as well.
The event draws a wide range of energy professionals, including utilities, developers, energy infrastructure and technology companies, engineering firms, competitive retail suppliers, independent power producers, contractors — and others operating in the microgrid, energy storage and distributed energy arena. Attendees also include policymakers and regulators, as well as advocates of decentralized energy.
“I feel like I am speaking to the all-star team of the microgrid industry.” — Micah Kotch, former director of the NY Prize, speaking at the Microgrid 2016 Conference in NYC.
On top of providing extensive networking opportunities, microgrid and energy vendors that span the entire industry will be on site at the event for attendees to explore and discover new products and companies.
